Mrs. Brenda Ligon Dedman

Mrs. Brenda Ligon Dedman, age 73 of Lebanon, passed away on April 14, 2014, at the University Medical Center.  A native of Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Damar and Lois Hankins Ligon.  She retired from the Wilson County Court Clerk’s office having served for fifteen years.  Mrs. Dedman was a member of the Barton’s Creek Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons; Danny Rollins and David Damar Dedman, and daughter, Rae Ann Michelle Dedman.  She is survived by husband of 44 years, Raymond Dedman; two sons, Jonathan (Lynn) and Brad (Tawni) Dedman; four grandchildren, Graci and Tristan Williams, Nathan and Brendan Dedman; daughter-in-law, Lisa Rollins; and first cousin, Billie Frances Hibdon. 

Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday April 17, at 2 pm from the  Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home.  Bro. Terry Cathey will officiate and interment will follow in the Barton’s Creek Cemetery.  Visitation Wednesday  3-8pm and again Thursday after 12noon. 

Kenneth Underwood, Joe Alsup, Eddie Reed, Danny Durham, James Hibdon, Eddie Vaught, Billy Dedman, and Gary Dedman will serve as pallbearers.

Miss Mattie Frances Bibb

Miss Mattie Frances Bibb age 85 of Lebanon died April 15, 2014, at Quality Care Nursing Home.  She was a housekeeper at McFarland Hospital for twenty seven years and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.  Preceded in death by parents:  Flem E. and Minnie Boykin Bibb; two brothers:  Eugene and Flem Bibb III. 

She is survived by sister, Margarie (Jack) Winfree; niece, Maleah (Greg) Bell and family; nephew, Kenneth (Kathy) Winfree and family.

Funeral services are Friday, April 18, 2014, at 1 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Suiter officiating.  Interment – Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Pallbearers:  Charles Warren, Terry Wrye, Rick Miller, Tommy Thompson, Wayne Smith, Mike Dykes.  Visitation Thursday 4-8 p.m. and Friday after 12 Noon.

Mr. Sam Sherrill

Mr. Sam A. Sherrill age 84 of Lebanon died April16, 2014, at University Medical Center.  A native of the Leeville Community, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Dorothy Denny Sherrill.  He was a U. S. Navy Veteran and a member of First Baptist Church.  He retired from AVCO as production supervisor with forty years of service.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille Odom Sherrill; step-daughter, Sandra Raymond.

He is survived by his wife of twenty four years, Rita Hancock Webb Sherrill; two step-sons:  John Stephen Webb and Douglas Harold Webb; five step-grandchildren:  John Anthony Raymond, John Michael Webb, Jeremy James Webb, Laura Lynn Webb, Brandi Nicole Webb (David Rion); one step-great-grandson, Cason Michael Rion; nephew, Rick (Deborah) Stewart.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Don McElroy and Rev. David Freeman officiating.  Interment – Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers:  Randall and Bryant Keith, Mike Kurtz, Charles Boyd Lasater, Myron Lasater, Don McDonald, John Rower.  Visitation Thursday 4-8 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home and Friday after 9 a.m. at the church.

Mr. Robert "Bob" Melton

Mr. Bob Melton age 78 died April 10, 2014, at Southern Living.  A native of Ohio, he was the son of the late Richard and Bertha Eberhardt Melton.  A U.S. Air Force Veteran he retired from Kroger with forty years of service.  Preceded in death by wife, Anne Huff Melton; son, Michael Melton; brothers:  Richard “Skip”, Johnny and Jimmy Melton; sister, Nola Frankenhoff. 

Survived by two children:  Lori (Chris) Hollandsworth, Todd (Donna) Melton; four grandchildren:  Chrissa and Aleea Hollandsworth, Matthew and Heather Melton; sister, Mary Lou Proust; three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are Sunday, April 13, 2014, at 2 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Gore officiating.  Interment – Granville Cemetery  Visitation Saturday 4-8 p.m.
