Mrs. Loneta Chaffin Bains age 98 of the Hiwassee Community passed away September 23, 2026, at the Pavilion in Lebanon.

Born July 3, 1928, in Smith County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James Ridley Chaffin and Roxie Pippin Chaffin. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of the Rome Church of Christ. She married the love of her life, Howard Donald Bains on October 19, 1952. He preceded her in death October 23, 2018, after sixty-six years of marriage.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sisters: Dorothy Chaffin, Mildred Woodard, Evelyn Bush and Lois Tomlinson; brothers: Donald, Glenn and Dalton Chaffin; daughter-in-law, Joyce Bains.

Survivors include her two children: Pam (Tom) Billington and Phillip Bains both of Hiwassee; four grandchildren: Kristina (Daniel) Kirby of Gladeville, Daniel (Lesa) Bains of Carthage, Susan (Jeremy) Reeder of Carthage, Julianne (John) Thomason of Lynnville; great-grandchildren: Brayden and Austin Kirby, Bains, Boone, and Jovie Thomason, Kendall Bains, Conner and Braden Hughes; sister-in-law, Patty Chaffin of Lebanon.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 4 p.m. from the Bethlehem Cemetery in Tuckers Cross Roads with Stan Stevenson officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation Sunday 1 – 3:30 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Lebanon, TN
