Funeral service for Mr. E. L. “Buddy” Burnette will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Russ Stephens officiating. Interment Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Tuesday after 11 A.M.

Mr. Burnette, age 88 of Lebanon passed away September 23, 2026, at Cedar Creek Post Acute in Mt. Juliet.

Born Edgar Lee Burnette on April 3, 1938, in the Una Community of Davidson County, he is the son of the late Willie Robert and Mary Sue Johnson Burnette. He served in the United States Navy, and was a Baptist. He owned and operated B & B Driver Leasing for many years. He was a member of the Ionic Masonic Lodge #254, a Shriner, serving in the clown unit, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rites. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles “Chuck” Burnette.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Underwood Burnette; two children: Vicky Burnette Smith, and Steve (Gail) Burnette; brother, Willie Robert Burnette Jr.; and sister, Betty Sue Hunter; grandchildren: Shannon Leedom (Brent Stone), Theresa (JJ) Carter, Stanley (Ella-Faye) Smith, Joshua Smith, Corey (Sommer) Burnette, Kyle Burnette, Matt (Amanda) Burnette, J. C. Crum, Kate Burnette (Justin Ellis), Stephanie (George) Neal, and Brandon (Rachel) Burnette; 25 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and special nephew, Daniel (Joey) Shook.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or to the Gideons International.
