Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. William Everette "Billy" Caplenor will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Gregory, Rev. David Hesson, and Hilary Dawson officiating.  Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation Tuesday 2-8 PM and Wednesday after 10 AM at Ligon & Bobo.

Mr. Caplenor, age 85 of the Flat Rock Community in Smith County passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, at University Medical Center in Lebanon.

Born July 6, 1929, in Smith County, he is the son of the late John William and Mary Helen Stonecipher Caplenor.  He was a member of Rome Baptist Church.  He graduated from Smith County High School in 1949, where he played football, serving as captain his senior year.  He received the Prestigious American Farmers Degree in Kansas City in 1949.  He was also elected to the Middle TN State Football Team.  He went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force during Korean War.  He was a life-long farmer, and worked at Moss Service & Supply for twenty five years.

He is survived by his wife of sixty three years, Flora Dawson Caplenor; two brothers, Charles (Jean) Caplenor and Johnnie (Carolyn) Caplenor; sister, Geraldine (B. J.) Reich; several loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Honorary pallbearers: Dalton & Patty Chaffin, Kitty Houston, Rev. John Norman Jr., and 1949 graduates of SCHS.

Active pallbearers: Mike Denney, Grant Denney, Joe Hackett, Logan Hackett, Spencer Hackett, Mike Mofield, Steve Gibbs, Mark Caplenor, and Bill Scruggs.
