Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Bragg Cather will be 3:30 PM Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Suiter officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Woodbury. Visitation Saturday 2-6 PM and Sunday after 2 PM at Ligon & Bobo.
Mrs. Cather, age 86, of Lebanon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, July 3, 2014.
Born October 25, 1927, in Gladeville, she is the daughter of the late Fletcher Keele Bragg and Jessie Mildred Steele Bragg. She graduated from Tennessee Tech with a degree in home economics and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, with a Master's Degree in Religious Education. She and her husband were missionaries in Ghana, West Africa, for many years. After returning, she served as secretary for several churches before going to work for the Stewardship Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention in Nashville. She had been a member of Immanuel, Fairview, and Rocky Valley Baptist Churches. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Mary Lillian Bragg, and three brothers, Joe Thomas, James, and Howard (Christine) Bragg.
She is survived by her husband of sixty one years, Rev. Douglas C. Cather; three children, Millie (Dan) Falls of Hewitt, TX; Anita (David) Roche of Monroe, GA; and Bill (Lindsey) Cather of Mt. Juliet; twin sister, Sue Helen (J.D.) Land of Roanoke, VA; four grandchildren, Hannah Ruth Cather, Charles Douglas Roche, Andrew Hartmann Cather, and William Eric Cather; two step grandchildren, Justin (Mary Jo) Falls and Andrea Falls; step great grandchildren, Lyric & Wesley Stow; sister in law, Barbara Bragg of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Lottie Moon Offering of the International Mission Board.
