Obituary

Mr. Robert Hatton Knowles age 89 of Lebanon passed away June 24, 2026, at Ascension St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. Born April 23, 1937, in Wilson County, TN, he was the son of the late Walter Hatton Knowles and Edna Marie Smith Knowles. He was raised in the Gladeville Community and attended the public schools graduating from Lebanon High School and attending Tennessee Tech University. During his working career, he worked in the trucking industry as a sales representative for several truck lines including the William Hayes Lines and finally retiring from Averitt Express. He enjoyed raising cattle on his farm in the Bellwood Community. Robert was an avid collector of antiques and relics of the past. Robert attended the Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church with his wife Shirley.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-six years, Shirley Archer Knowles; two children: Derrick (Tammy) Knowles, Wendy (Tom) Keifer; step-daughter, Pamela Rawn; grandson, Chase (Erin) Knowles; step-grandson, Derric (Alethia) Rawn; step-granddaughter, Katherine Anderson; two great-grandchildren: Parker and Caroline Knowles; step-great-grandchildren, Aeriana Anderson and Ezra Rawn; two sisters: Shelby Jean (Fred Wilson) Morgan, Kathy (Kenneth) Hensley.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 3 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Lebanon, with Rev. Kevin Medlin officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers: Jerry and Richard Smith, Haywood Barry, Butch Martin, Derric Rawn, Tom Keifer. Visitation Saturday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
