Funeral services for Mrs. Mona Johnson Murphy will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Delashmit officiating.  Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Visitation Wednesday 4-7 PM and Thursday after 11 AM.

Mrs. Murphy, age 77 of Lebanon passed away January 11, 2025.

Born November 13, 1947, in Wilson County, she is the daughter of the late Johnny Thomas Johnson and Ruth Marie Glen Garton.  She was a local beautician for many years, later retiring from K-Mart.  She was very active for many years in coaching softball and managing the Lebanon Girls Softball Association.   She also was a volunteer at the Wilson County Fair for many years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Fred Smith "Smitty" Murphy; two sons, Winn Murphy and Brandon Murphy; step father, Jasper Winford Garton; and sisters, Patricia Clemmons and Bonnie Wells.

She is survived by three grandchildren children: Tamryn Lee Murphy, Weston Smith Murphy, and Zane Thomas Murphy; nieces, Brandy Tomlinson, and Melissa Clemmons; nephews, Brian, Jeff, Cory & Brad Clemmons, Shane & Timmy Wells ; step children, Drenda Sorrells and John (Nicole) Murphy; step grandchildren: J. R., Molly & Victoria Murphy, and Chloe Sorrells.
