Obituary

Mrs. Lorene Heflin Gray age 88 of the LaGuardo Community passed away August 10, 2026, at Summit Medical Center. Born in the Norene Community of Wilson County, TN, on August 19, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Buford Jones and Gladys Felure Jones. She was a member of Rocky Valley Baptist Church. Mrs. Gray worked twenty-seven years at Lux Robertshaw and ten years at Nissan before retiring.

Affectionately known as “Nanny” to her family, she loved to work in her flowers and her vegetable garden. She also enjoyed going fishing in her spare time and cooking for her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, James Melvin Heflin; son, Jeffrey Wayne Heflin; husband, Thomas E. Gray; step-sons, Richard and Ronald Gray; step-granddaughter, Ginger Gray.

Mrs. Lorene leaves behind her loving family, two daughters: Cindy (Jerry) Apple, Celia (Tim) Gulley; grandchildren: Crystal (Josh) Martin, Brandy (Clint) Smith, Timothy Shane Gulley; great-grandchildren: Aspen, Kennadi and Monroe Martin, Madelyn and Owen Smith, Alissah (Matt) Thomas; great-great-grandson, Ezekiel; Step-children: Donald (Tammy) Gray, Ronnie (Donna) Gray; step-grandchildren: Tanner, Hunter, Holly, Haley, Zach, Taylor and Gina; step-great-grandchildren, Marley and Nora Gray.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Lebanon, with Bro. Jason Mull officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.  Honorary pallbearers: Timmy Gulley, Jerry Apple, Shane Gulley, Donald Gray, Tanner Gray, and Hunter Gray.  Active Pallbearers: Josh Martin, Clint Smith, Ralph Gray, Owen Smith, Zach and Taylor Gray. Visitation Saturday 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Plant A Tree for Tennessee or plant a tree in Nanny’s memory.
