Obituary

Mrs. Linda Rowe Halbert, age 78, of the Centerville Community near Lebanon, passed away peacefully February 11, 2019.  She was born in Johnson City, TN, November 17, 1940, daughter of the late Rex S. Rowe and Elizabeth Venable Rowe.  She married Wilson County native Hamlet Grissim Halbert, May 20, 1967.  She attended Hiwassee College, Scarritt College, and received her Master's Degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  She was a member of Lebanon First United Methodist Church, where she served as Director of Christian Education for thirty-eight years.  She served as the church's director of pre-school and youth, and also worked with the senior adults.  She dedicated her life to sharing the love of Christ with others in her church and in the community through the pre-school program, vacation bible school, camping, Sunday school, Bible studies and senior adult ministries.  Her joy was contagious, and she brought out the best in others.

She was preceded in death by son: Jason Rex Halbert; sister, Jan Honeycutt.  She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Hamlet G. Halbert; three children:  Tim (Courtney) Halbert, Tom Halbert, Beth (Kirk) Pulley; five grandchildren:  Hailey and Tyler Halbert and their mother, Tina; Kai Halbert, Levi and Seth Pulley; brother, Robert " Bo" (Maggie) Rowe, sister, Nancy (David) Cannon; brother-in-law, Mike Honeycutt.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 15, 2019, at 1 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ryan Bennett and Rev. David Hesson officiating. Interment – Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Honorary Pallbearers:  Past and Current Staff and Pre-School Teachers of First United Methodist Church.  Active Pallbearers:  Kirk Pulley, Bill Moss, Dr. Bruce Johnson, Jason Lea, Joe Gardner, Kai, Tyler, and Bob Halbert, Andy Willis.  Special thanks to Quality Center and Avalon Hospice.  Visitation Thursday 2-7 p.m. at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home and Friday 12 Noon- 1 p.m. at Church.

Memorials may be made to the Children's Ministry of the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon, TN.
