Mr. James Wesley Powell, age 93, of Suggs Creek Community, Mt. Juliet, passed away Monday, September 3, 2018. Born in Wilson County, he was the son of the late James W. and Ora Mires Powell.   He retired from Textron and was a faithful member of Center Chapel Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: wife of seventy years, Lucile Lane Powell; son, James Nathan Powell; son-in-law, Richard VanDyke; daughter-in-law, Jeanna Powell; sisters: Violet Murphy, Beatrice McPeak, Katherine Davis, Frances Smith, and Helen Martin; two brothers: Edward Bland and Verner Powell.

Survived by two children:  Nannette Powell VanDyke, Troy (Ronie) Powell; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, Lebanon, with Tim Taylor and James McFerrin officiating. Interment- Wilson County Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be Tuesday 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at Ligon & Bobo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Center Chapel Church of Christ, 9500 Central Pike, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122.
