Mr. Vantrease, age 70 of the Flat Rock Community in Smith County, passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas in Nashville.

Born September 27, 1943, in Smith County, he is the son of the late Hugh Vester Vantrease and Carrie Effie McNichols Vantrease. He was a 1962 graduate of Smith County High School and was a retired mechanic. He was a member of the Flat Rock Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clint Vantrease.

He is survived by his wife of nearly fifty years, Georgie Spain Vantrease; and two sons, Mark Vantrease of Lebanon; and Tim (Daphne) Vantrease of Hermitage.
