Mr. Donnie J. Winfree age 84 of Lebanon passed away at his home May 8, 2026. He was born in the Long Branch Community of DeKalb County, TN, February 2, 1942. He was the only child of Jamie and Juanita Fish Winfree. He was a 1960 graduate of Lebanon High School. He had a lifelong love of baseball and softball. He played baseball for Lebanon High School and then played catcher for the Shell Oilers team. He later went on to coach several men and women’s softball teams. He and his wife, Peggy enjoyed traveling and camping in Tennessee’s State Parks, especially their favorite spot in Townsend as long as their health permitted. Mr. Winfree was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. During his working career he worked at Precision Rubber, then worked for a time at AVCO, and then retired from General Electric.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Ann Robinson Winfree; son-in-law, Stephen “Bubba” Pryor.

Survivors include his daughter, Lori Pryor; granddaughter, Brittney (Dylan) Melton; two great-grandchildren: Jordan Briley, Oaklee Melton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 1 p.m. from the Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Carver and Bro. Greg Bell officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Dylan Melton, Mike and Austin Matney, B.J. Young, Matt Canham, Shane Depperman. Visitation Monday 3-7 p.m. and Tuesday 11a.m.-1 p.m.
