Donald R. Smego, age 73 of Lebanon, TN passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 after a courageous stand against cancer.  He was born in Joliet, IL to George and Muriel (Davis) Smego and spent most of his life in the agricultural and landscaping industries.

Don and his wife, Diane, recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.  He will be greatly missed by his two children and two adoring granddaughters.   He dearly loved his family including siblings, extended family and all his nieces and nephews.

Don was an avid fan of football, John Wayne, and all things historical about World War II.    He accumulated a collection of WWII memorabilia, antique tools and a plethora of string trimmers and flashlights.  Uncle Don was also known for his epic Easter Egg Hunts.  Always a jack of all trades and tinker extraordinaire, he had any tool for the job if he could only find it.  Don never met a stranger and always went above and beyond to help others.

A private memorial will be held at a later date, but his family encourages each of you to honor Don in your own way, preferably in a charitable service to others who need a helping hand.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a concerted effort to spend time with your own loved ones, making fond memories, living, loving, and laughing.
