Charles “Charlie” Robert Wharton IV, age 60 of Sunbury Ohio passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sunbury Ohio on March 11, 2026. Born September 30, 1965 in Columbus Ohio, to the late Charles Robert Wharton III and Donna Wharton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles and Helen Wharton Jr. and John and Mary Hammond.
Survived by his loving wife of thirty four years, Teresa Hagan Wharton; children: Kyle, Mary & Ryan Wharton; sister, Brenda Wharton (Brenda Gardner), brother, Don Wharton; uncle, Dave Wharton (Marianne Wharton), many cousins, best friend, Bart Orcutt; sisters-in-law Michelle Hagan (Steve Hub) and Melessa Hagan Norcross (Donald Norcross); nieces and nephews: Phillip (Sarah) Norcross, Angela Norcross, Ben (Kaitlyn) Norcross and Kay Norcross Worden (Khristopher); great nephew Everett Norcross and great nieces Haley Worden and Penelope Norcross.
Charlie grew up in North Columbus, graduating from Brookhaven High School and East Career Center in 1985. He was a car enthusiast and mechanic from a young age, even building a dune buggy in High School. He was always tinkering with engines. He loved riding his Harley with his wife and many friends, having done many charity rides over the years. He was an avid NASCAR Racing fan and a big fan of OSU football. He loved heavy metal, classic rock and country music, always listening and singing along. He took ball room dancing with his wife. He always took the love of his life, Teresa, whom he loved for forty three years to “the Castle” every year for Valentine’s Day, a tradition for so many years. He enjoyed camping and fishing and the outdoors. Charlie worked for AC Delco for nineteen years, Koosen Fire & Security for five years, and most recently Car Supply for 10 years. He always worked hard to provide for his family, and had a big heart and loved to laugh. He loved his family more than anything. He will always be remembered for his loving, caring heart by those that knew him best.
Funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 20, 2026, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Lebanon, with Bro. Russ Stephens officiating. Interment Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Thursday 4-6 PM and Friday after 10 AM at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home.
