Funeral service for Mr. Carl R. Johnson Sr. will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Pratt officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation Saturday 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Ligon & Bobo.

Mr. Johnson, age 85 of Lebanon passed away January 14, 2026, at his home.

Born December 23, 1940, in Beckley, West Virginia, he is the son of the late Carl Oscar Johnson Sr. and Mamie Lucille Blanton Johnson. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam, attaining the rank of Captain. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and was a graduate of Lee University. He was a retired truck driver, later working at Manheim until his health forced him to completely retire. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Lois Elva Johnson and Sue Anne Johnson, and a brother, Robert Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of over thirty seven years, Faye Maggart Johnson; three children: Tamara Rene` Johnson Marquez; Carl Richard (Kimberly) Johnson Jr.; and David Long (Erika) Johnson; step son, David Bryan (Danielle) Moss; two sisters: Hazel Lorene Rademaker and Becky Fisher; two brothers: James (Gayle) Johnson and Eric (Phyllis) Johnson; sister in law, Sharon Johnson; brother in law, Gary (Denise) Maggart; 3 grandchildren: Justin Marquez III, Kelseigh (Ethan) Sutton, and Sarah “Lucy” Johnson; great grandchildren: Aria and Liam Sutton; 2 step grandchildren: Amy Elizabeth Moss and Alex B. (Nicole) Moss; and 2 step great grandchildren: Emma and Isla Moss.
